With deep sadness, we report the death of Harold Sharman, longtime Crest CC member, and his wife Ann. Ann died on 28 January and Harold died on 8 February. Their joint funeral details are below and daughter Lynn and son Neil welcome Harold and Ann’s cycling friends to the funeral.
Harold was known to many of us as the man who did start and result sheets for timetrials for decades, on his little printer at home. Every start and result sheet had a distinctive look and design and layout, and always accurate, “that’s one of Harold’s start sheets” people would say.
Harold also worked in the Epping cycle shop for many years and was an excellent tub repairer and wheelbuilder. Many of his repaired tubs were used and trusted for many years afterwards by the racing cyclists who owned them.
Harold timetrialled through most of his adult life until later years, and his wife Ann cycled for pleasure too. Up until very recent years, they were always able and happy to marshal, and could always be found marshalling the Crest Spring Road Race, no matter how cold or wet the weather.
We pass on our deepest condolences to their children Lynn and Neil.
