Racing Update, June

It was a great month for the Crest as we picked up a grand total of 22 regional points during June. That’s 22 more than even Cavendish has this season; Ryan picked up the majority of these points (17) with a 3rd at a flat Hog Hill and then an 8th and 2nd at the Olympic park. His 2nd place was particularly impressive as he was in a 3 man break, a rare sight at the fast and furious Velopark. He also got 2nd at the Dunton go-races but no points for this. All these results now mean Ryan has picked up enough points for his 3rd cat licence, a just reward after lots of hard miles this year. V2 picked up the remaining 5 points for 5th at the Olympic park, after getting 2nd in the bunch sprint following Ryan’s break. V2 is now just 3 points away from obtaining his 3rd cat licence too.

Over at North Weald the Crest continue to animate the races and support the event well. Ryan, Mick, Rocket, Will and Simon has been regular attendees, with the highlights being 2nd place for Simon and more recently Ryan too. Mick is also winning his age category quite comfortably and mixing it up in the sprints with everyone else.

Finally Adam continues to keep his stranglehold on the club 10 trophy, with a best time of 24:45. An apparent new member Tomas William recorded a 25.06 and Paul Elliot also rode with 27:52. Remember its the average of your best 3 rides that count for the trophy. Speaking of trophies I have proposed several new possible awards to the committee which will hopefully be approved this week. So maybe more details of this soon.

July sees lots more circuit racing and also the Ride 100 sportive. Good luck to everyone taking part. Remember its not a race, but everyone will want to know your time… :p
